Solitude

Funny how
Solitude
Can bring about
The want to understand
That most likely
There isn’t much
To life as such

And this plague
I call solitude
Might soon just be
All that’s left of me
In this fortress
Of my distress
And me

The Thrill

A dash of despair
It’s in the air
Everywhere

The kind of distress
That serves to bless
The will to kill
Oneself

It’s in the air
Everywhere
A dash of despair
Rotting away
From deep within

The will to kill
Has never felt
Like such a thrill

Risky Whisky

Love is a risky game
That you cannot blame
For it can make you blissful
Or render you miserable

And I suppose
In a way
It’s a choice you make
To be devoured whole
Body and soul

Love is risky
Like whisky
That will burn
Before you learn
That all good things
Come with a price

Grey

It’s a sad day
And the sky is grey

A kind of sadness
That mothers the seed
Of madness

Like a boomerang
It returns home
And somehow
This sadness
Has manifested its home
In my mind
Making me blind
To all the things
That made me smile
Once upon a time

Puppet Master

The question lies
In society
And it’s position
To dictate
What is
And what is not

We find ourselves
Conforming to it
Like the holy bible
It has come to be

A seed they planted
Ever so religiously
Long before
Our innocence
Could fathom
The stages of life

Over time
It flourished
And blossomed
To a strain of thoughts
That was never ours
To begin with

The question lies
In who we are
in who we really are
As individuals
And not puppets

Betrayal

A bullet was born
And you met your end
The price was paid
My tears in vain

I held you close
In disbelief
I had a choice
To save you or me

And there I was
Breathing still
With you long gone

It was a dream
Like no other
For waking up
Changes not
The imprint left
Of you
Bloody and frail
From my betrayal.
